i have mixed feelings about 2009.

i am not too pleased that the first thing i hear is that year of the ox is bad for both year of the pig (me) and year of the sheep (aru), so for us it's like, prepare for double whammy. >.>

i want to feel optimistic, because 2008 had its lows, but they're definitely outweighed by the blessings.

yeah, okay, it doesn't hurt to be extra careful and save as much as we can and just amble along 2009 with a steady mind and steady heart, etc. etc., but damn it's disheartening to hear bad things right off the bat.

anyway.

on to a more important matter: my 2009 planner. XD

i got a starbucks planner (red, of course) late last december for the sheer sake of getting one, but i found that it still has day-view pages, and i want my month-view planner. and not just any month-view planner - it has to have hard covers and it must fit my bag. >.>

i was about to give up and use the starbucks planner, but i finally found a month-view planner similar to my planner last year, only this time it's red and not black, which is fine by me. took me a long time scouring four different bookstores for it. >.>

so, having found my ideal planner, i don't need the starbucks one anymore. and in light of the so-called "hard times" that are coming for us pigs and sheep, it would be a shame for the starbucks planner to go to complete waste.

i'd start a plurk because microblogging's probably just about what i have time for right now, but i love LJ and its content too much; if i start plurking it would feel like i'm giving up on reading, too. D:

kuya moxitus' chili con carne was so hot it blazed a trail of fire down my throat and sparked a revolution in my stomach. @_@

am not the type to regularly hunt for or make cat macros or lolcats, but i do find that the few i do encounter can be cute and amusing. this is (or not) a feeble attempt at making one, i guess? XD

i dunno if there's ever been a meme like this one, though. i'm currently racking my brain 'cause the idea seemed oddly familiar, but i just suddenly thought of it and think it's an interesting way to get to know other people.

name 5 scents or smells that you find particularly pleasing:

1. fresh linen and clean clothes - don't you just find it fine to wake up one morning to the smell your newly washed blankets?
   
2. melted butter when cooking - yum!
3. grass - not that kind of grass. XD summer smells really appeal to me, and when the grasscutters here in our subdivision mow everything in sight, the cut grass smells very nice.
4. books - new books especially. old books, as long as they're not too moldy, give off this nice smell as well.
5. new money - newly minted money! haha, need i say more? ^^;

name 5 scents or smells that turn you off:

1. secondhand smoke - 'cause i want it firsthand, that's why. XD
2. odor of a person who bathed in unclean water - i dunno how to describe the smell. ._. it may sound discriminating because maybe some people really just don't have access to clean water, i just find the smell bothersome.
3. cat poop - horrible. XD
4. dead animals - i remember, though, that when we used to work in a biology lab, i found the smell of formalin on the specimens very.. addicting. O.O
5. burning synthetic material - gives me headaches. =.=

men, start taking notes of your woman's choices of perfume or aftershave for plus pogi points. ;D

i always wake up earlier than aru to attend to my work. he's a light sleeper, so he would wake up often and then immediately go back to sleep. this morning, when i saw him open his eyes, i smiled at him, and he blinked and went back to sleep. i didn't realize i'd done this twice more until, when he finally fully woke up:

aru: anong meron?
kimi: huh?
aru: bakit ka ngiti nang ngiti?
kimi: ai sorry. may rason ba dapat? good morning lang naman. 'yaan mo, sisimangutan na kita lagi sa umaga. o_O

and this, thus far, is the best compliment i've ever gotten from him:

kimi: *wakes up too early and grouchily climbs back to bed to get more sleep*
aru: *snuggles then pauses* di ka pa naliligo?

i guess i'm generally in an odd mood. the onset of october always makes me feel a little giddy with building excitement for my day at the end of the month. haha i guess i'm always like that with special days.

however, recent turbulent events throw in a negative vibe to building excitement, resulting in a rather odd mix of plain ngslkdrhtskksdjfhtgkwenrg.

..i feel restless. i feel as if there this grand canyon-sized gap that i have to jump across to get to something.. and i don't know what that something is. forgive the rather lame attempt at waxing poetic, i guess i just don't know how to describe this feeling. XD
