i am ridiculously pleased with the fact that my 3-year-old daughter now knows how to manipulate a mouse and play dress-up flash games on the PC.

but now she wants to always play on my laptop, and is exercising another newfound skill: using emotional blackmail. O_O

she's past the stage of throwing tantrums when she doesn't get what she wants, now she'll just look at you and say, "mommy.. laro ako mouse sa computer.. (let me play with mouse on the computer..) pwease.. *sniff*"

hahahaha ..huhu. T_T

today i got a popup notice from my pc stating that my hard drive is running low on space. i used to think that i would not be able to fill up 40gb, but then hello thar dsl~ o.O

work continuously fills my hard drive up with audio files and transcribed documents, and of course my massive downloading of music, comics, whole series(es?), and movies does not help. =_=

i guess i'll be buying loads of blank discs for burning some of my goodies.

another thing i keep forgetting to buy is a new optical mouse. my old optical mouse suddenly won't work one day and i unpacked and used the standard ps2 scroll mouse that came with aru's pc casing, which he didn't need because he has his old optical one. now the mouse is squeaking (i kid you not =_=) and i don't know why and it's actually pretty annoying if you hear it often enough. ~__~

and thinking of maybe buying a brand new hueg ass hard drive for my pc led to much hardware angsting, of course.

aru once joked about his pc being a benz, because of the casing he bought with a benz logo on it. =_=

this led me to conclude that my own pc was probably like our old '89 nissan pick-up, which my father just absolutely won't give up because of the great engine (and the sentimental value lol). the body, though, is so dilapidated it's a bit embarrassing having it parked in front of our house next to our neighbor's BMW. rofl.

my pc's important parts (processor, motherboard and ram) have been upgraded and it's running perfectly well (equal to aru's and definitely better than [info]moxitus' pc, which, at this point, can be compared to a tricycle LMAO~) but the old casing just looks so damn sad, with one side panel just leaning on the main casing because there was this one time i opened the side to check on something i lost two of the damned screws. ._.

apart from being too lazy not having time to actually go out and shop for a new casing, sometimes when i do have the money and it occurs to me to buy a new one, i guess i just opt to put it off in case i needed the money for something else.

here i thought that i was of the mentality of "form over function." XD but it seems that as long as my pc is running superbly, i can let my casing stay in its sorry state.

..so long as it does not pose a danger to kaida, of course, as i can just imagine her curious little self tipping aside the loose panel and putting her hand inside to reach for the colorful wires.. omfg i think i may need to buy a new one. O__O

the holiday season plus one earthquake later, i am finally able to lj!

..happy new year!

(late much? o_O)

ang grupong pendong performed their last gig last wednesday. too bad i didn't have the chance to advertise because of stellar internet.

their subic gig was also great, after which we were able to go to the beach. it was kaida's first time to swim in the ocean! will post pics as soon as multiply cooperates. (i still have to upload her birhday pictures, too. ~_~)

one thing i found out about my mom: she developed a taste for starbucks during their first months in the US (most probably because their coffee shops are literally everywhere in that country). during the road trip to and from subic, she kept stopping by starbucks and buying coffee for the whole band. i suddenly found myself clutching a card 8 stickers short of a starbucks planner. shrugged and filled up the remainder of the card myself. yay instant planner. XD

i really am particular about planners. a simple one would have sufficed, but the starbucks planner appealed to me because of the wide space for entries. however, i did still buy a complementary papemelroti month view mini-planner and attached it at the back of the starbucks one because i just have to have a month-view planner.

am geeky. i know.

aru finally bought his own pc! thanks to louie and [info]slaves for helping us buy chedeng. XD

yeah, you got that right: aru bought a CPU case with the logo of mercedes benz on it. ROFL.

he got (more or less) his gaming specs for a relatively cheap price, but what i'm really drooling over is the 1GB ram he splurged on. *O* the speed combined with his processor is just.. gah. *throws old P4 1.8GHz processor out the window*

will be buying tickets (hopefully today) for the january 27 showing of zsa zsa zaturnnah (ze muzikal)! *is excited*

yeah.

i changed my layout again.

i used art by Luis Royo again because i just love his work. ♥♥ but if you can recommend other great artists, i can check them out, too. i guess i just don't have time to scour DeviantArt for pretty images so recs would be great.

anyway. i messed up edited Luis Royo's work (BLASPHEMY!!) a bit to make a decent header. the layout is best viewed with firefox since an image code that won't work with IE is messing up the header. so what's new with browsers causing me problems. ~_~

(speaking of browsers, i found this interesting article about firefox through [info]vwida.)

regarding layouting my LJ, i can't seem to help myself. of course i want this LJ pretty, but i guess the main motivation is to learn html and css enough to design web pages someday. the goal seems pretty far off since i'm learning via LJ codes and web tutorials, but i know i can do this. *o* i still use templates now and tinker around with them, but i'm hoping to learn how to make them from scratch.

seeing layouts work just gives me this feeling of accomplishment. ang babaw ko talaga. XD

we were finally able to reformat the pc, too. the file manager works fine now. it's great having a network since i didn't have to burn all my important files into a cd, i just dumped them all into the other pc here at home before reformatting and then transferred them back to this pc once the network was up again.

other than that, nothing much has happened to me lately. been very busy with work since the volume is increasing. but then, more work = more pay = more toys for kaida. LOL.

so.

the technologically-challenged one posts yet again for help.

ugh. ~_~

rumors have been going around that the firefox update has been causing problems for users. and, since i've been having compatibility problems with firefox and my company's website already, i decided to uninstall firefox and use avant instead. it's supposedly under IE, such that my company's website should have no problem with it.

i've been enjoying avant ever since i installed it, customizing a bit of the settings and all. but then, when i tried to open a folder, i get this popup window saying "Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library - Runtime Error! - Program: C:\WINDOWS\explorer.exe - abnormal program termination" and the folder won't open.

i've consulted with a few people and it seems others are experiencing it too. louie said somebody solved the problem by uninstalling the google and yahoo toolbars, but then, i've already uninstalled those two along with firefox earlier.

i really didn't have any problems with the updated version of firefox even after i installed the google toolbar to it. it would seem that my problems started after i uninstalled them. o_O i did try to install the yahoo toolbar for avant but when i found out it wasn't compatible (another *blinku* moment for me), i uninstalled it again. and louie said that the problem should be solved by the uninstallation of the toolbars, but they're already uninstalled and explorer.exe still isn't working.

i can still access my folders via the desktop toolbar in my taskbar, but it's damned inconvenient not being able to use explorer.exe.

any help or info would be much appreciated. ~_~

ok, with the amount of work in which i'm buried under, i will be needing my very own pc soon. i need the basics first, i can work (and play a bit in the sidelines, of course XD) with an integrated video card in the meantime.

here are my specs and projected budget:
  • AMD athlon something 1.8Ghz - around php 5,500
  • motherboard - php 4,000 max
  • 80 GB hard drive - php 3,000 max
  • 1 GB DDR memory - around 4,000
  • CD/DVD writer - php 2,500 max
  • casing and furniture - php 3,000 max
i think this covers everything except the monitor. i won't be needing a fancy large monitor, so if somebody has a spare monitor that they're willing to sell, please just comment with your price. for that matter, if anybody has a spare something on the list that works perfectly fine, that'll work for me, too.

thanks a bunch. ^^

we were finally able to reformat our pc ..again.

we finally found and bought an acid pro installer in blue wave. why so far from home? because we were in the vicinity last sunday and greenhills has turned into an effin' shangri-la mall wannabe, that's why.

anyway.

we've been looking for program installers so that we would be able to reformat. our pc has been cluttered with mp3s of my husband and dictation files from my work and various pc games. finally our hardware is clean and shiny once again. *hugs pc*

..only to be cluttered with more mp3s and dictation files and video games, i can imagine. o_O plus, aru was looking at me strangely last night when i installed mozilla firefox before the video and sound card drivers. priorities first, dammit. XD

i was anxious with programs with online installations like YM and such. dial-up just takes too damn long to install YM, which is important for my work. plus connections recently have been quite unstable. it was just so depressing to see this effin' message on my screen:

Installation time:
DSL - 1 minute
56K Modem - 50 minutes

curse you pldt for not having ports built near our area!! do i have to carry my house on my back to move some several blocks just to get dsl? T^T

in any case, i was able to install YM; however, contact details were lost and i don't know why. i thought they'd be retained. so now then, my YM window shows only my friends' yahoo ids, and i sometimes forget who's who with so many listed. >.>
