i filed an LJ customer support ticket earlier today because i was worried that my rename token might expire or something. i got a response a couple of hours ago that they manually changed my account name, instead of making me wait for 30 days. the one who contacted me assured me, though, that i would have been able to use the rename token after 30 days, but she just changed it manually in any case.

great service. ^^ shout-out to Erica of LJ Community Care for the prompt response. ^^

oh hi.

in case you were wondering how the hell i got into your flists, i used to be losethesmog. XD

i just wanted a shorter username, that's all. i wanted to have my full first name as a username, but someone took it and I DON'T REALLY KNOW WHY.

but a 4-letter username is fine by me.

i used my younger brother abram's (ILUSM ♥) paypal account to buy the rename token. i convinced him to apply for a paypal account for his credit card because it's safer for online purchases, and recently he's been buying more on ebay and amazon. i helped him with his paypal registration and he went directly to ebay afterwards to look at more stuff. XD

i tried to save face (BECAUSE I SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF MYSELF BEING THE OLDER SIBLING HAVING TO USE MY YOUNGER BRO'S CREDIT CARD) and did the sisterly thing: warn him from getting too tempted to buy lots of stuff online.

..a warning which i'm not really listening to myself, going and buying a rename token, of all things. =_=

addendum: abram's also buying a hardcover copy of the graveyard book for us, in time to put into a balikbayan box they're sending next week. he should be sainted, really. ♥

i changed my layout again.

i used art by Luis Royo again because i just love his work. ♥♥ but if you can recommend other great artists, i can check them out, too. i guess i just don't have time to scour DeviantArt for pretty images so recs would be great.

anyway. i messed up edited Luis Royo's work (BLASPHEMY!!) a bit to make a decent header. the layout is best viewed with firefox since an image code that won't work with IE is messing up the header. so what's new with browsers causing me problems. ~_~

(speaking of browsers, i found this interesting article about firefox through vwida.)

regarding layouting my LJ, i can't seem to help myself. of course i want this LJ pretty, but i guess the main motivation is to learn html and css enough to design web pages someday. the goal seems pretty far off since i'm learning via LJ codes and web tutorials, but i know i can do this. *o* i still use templates now and tinker around with them, but i'm hoping to learn how to make them from scratch.

seeing layouts work just gives me this feeling of accomplishment. ang babaw ko talaga. XD

we were finally able to reformat the pc, too. the file manager works fine now. it's great having a network since i didn't have to burn all my important files into a cd, i just dumped them all into the other pc here at home before reformatting and then transferred them back to this pc once the network was up again.

other than that, nothing much has happened to me lately. been very busy with work since the volume is increasing. but then, more work = more pay = more toys for kaida. LOL.

it's not a groundbreakingly amazing thing, but after around 5 days (yes, between working and playing and taking care of the family, it took me that long) of flopping about, i was able to piece together a fairly simple yet presentable layout without having to switch to a plus account. see!

i like the customizable layouts in premade_ljs because it gives me room to personalize my LJ. searching for customizations also brought me to the everything_lj community, which helped me a lot.

and slaves, look! i was finally able to make customized mood icons using RO emoticons. XD many thanks to chicharon for the info regarding custom mood icons and also to yawn_kun and charsequil for most of the emoticons. :D (i took them from the KT boards, sshhhh! XD)

browsing through all these graphic and technological stuff had me in awe of the talent a lot of people have with website design and graphic art. don't give me that look, if you can do something that i can't do then i'm impressed, i'm that kind of person. XD

i was reminded of the time when i was about to fill up my application for UP, and my mom refused to make me write down anything from the college of fine arts as my course, even as a second choice. the usual line of "walang pera sa fine arts" made me grit my teeth then, and now i just want to show her the numerous jobs that await graduates of fine arts.

haha, i guess i'm just frustrated. i can learn most of these things online and on my own i should think, but it would take me time. i can live with my LJ looking like this for the time being, maybe i'll add a background image or change colors or change fonts or add images or whatever i feel like doing in the future.

next item on the to-do list: upload pics from the l'arc~con event!

i hate the ads in plus accounts with all my being.

i would love polls, and more userpics, and a scrapbook, and customized mood icons. also, after a few days of not visiting LJ, i find out they added more style options for plus and paid users and they are just too damn tempting.

but. i. do. not. want. ads.

option A: get a paid account!
i love the idea, but:

1. i don't have a credit card.
2. i don't know how to use paypal.
3. i don't know how a money order works.
4. i am iffy about the security of sending cash through mail.

suggestions, advice, and information regarding payment will be greatly appreciated.

option B: learn html and css.
this would improve my layout, i think. i'm a simple girl. i only want my tags listed in the sidebar, and maybe put a nice header and background. i know this is possible for free accounts, problem is i don't know how to do it and i do not have the time. ~_~ information and a few nifty techniques would be greatly appreciated.

option C: switch to a plus account and grit my teeth every time i see the ads.
..not an option.


at this point, i can only comment that the powers of marketing and advertising are steam-rolling all over my OC-ness.

i've changed my layout again. i've finally figured out the S2 system. go me! ~_~

i used art by Luis Royo again. the girl in my default user pic has haunted me for quite some time now, and look: she has this little dragon beside her. maybe i'm just picturing kaida, because lord knows she's been the one on my mind recently.

regarding sponsored+ account, i was checking out the features and noticed that you could make your own mood themes. does this mean that i could use ragnarok online emoticons? that would be great.

i've chosen "Dear ElJay, Today Was Hell" by bella_anitragrl for my layout. it's simple and black and pretty cute. XD

the lj bar on top gets covered up by the format, though. hmm. what to do.

but damn, most of my friends aren't posting anymore! do i have to call each and every one of you at home for you to add me in your friends list? pif.

and to think i haven't seen most of my friends for about a year. think of the cardiovascular accident they might have when they hear from me. piiiif.
