it is so hot even the ants are thirsty. i left a glass of water on my pc table only to find it mobbed by ants who appear to be drinking from it. while maintaining a neat line on the water edge, of course.

our modem seems fried, too. a 474kb file downloaded 10 minutes ftw.

bought 40 pieces of paracetamol. all of them consumed in two weeks. it seems i need to impose drug control protocols in this house now, too.

a few nights ago, i dreamt i killed a pldt lineman. he was begging for his life and promising to do better. i showed no mercy.. a pure manifestation of wrath, i was in my dream. a fellow lineman escaped my clutches and reported me to the police, so i got caught. the story was all over the news, and the people did not condemn me. every single one understood my situation.

i am so tired of this. we finally got our dsl, but after three days of choppy connection, our phone line goes dead again for almost two weeks, and on the day when we were setting up our router for networking, no less. i can understand not having dsl, but not having a dial tone even for measly dial-up is too much.

sure they fixed our phone. but we can't connect for some reason so we called 172, the pldt hotline for dsl. they said they be sending a technician, and god knows how slow these technicians are.

and of course it does not stop there. oh no. in the middle of my conversation with the csa i suddenly hear the voices of two women talking and i went wtf. our lines seem to have gotten intertwined again or something.. i just don't know anymore.

how do these things even happen? and why does it have to happen to us? ever since june 6, we've had a grand total of four days of our phone working. i really must demand at the very least a 50% discount on our next bill. i am not paying for this kind of service.

to boot, our dial-up connection seems to have degenerated from unuse. from a steady 38.6 to 44.0kbps, we suddenly get a choppy 24.0kbps at most and i want to know why. i used to be able to download 6mb audio files for my work, now i had to wait for two whole minutes for this effin' upgrade journal page to load amidst spurts of timed out loading. i can't even begin to imagine the horror i must go through once i click on the update journal button.

somebody will have to answer for this. middle of june, a friend emailed me with a good home-based job offer and the good lord be praised, the job is still available even when i was not able to reply immediately at that time. they are waiting for me now to submit my resume once i get my dsl fixed so i can work properly. if i do not land this job because of the incompetency of pldt.. my dream just might come true.

broadband has arrived!

we oohed and aahed over the speed of web pages appearing like ting! but we do get nasty lag spikes.

yeah ok, i knew it wasn't going to be perfect, what with our location being so far from the main ports, but there's this weird thing i don't get with our connection.

the lineman didn't set up a dialer for the username and password. first thing he did was install the modem and all, but then he said we weren't getting a connection because some of the modem light indicators remained off. so he said he was going back to their office to switch us to another port. he called us a few hours later and asked if all of the lights in the modem were turned on now and they were, so then he asked us to open internet explorer and then type in the username and password into a dialog box that automatically popped up. i told him we used firefox and that no dialog box asking for the username and password appeared. he then directed us to a pldt website and told us the log in there, and the dsl worked.

thing is, now we always have to go to that same website to log in, and make sure we don't close that window because we might get logged out. that site will always show our status whether we are connected or not.

i don't know.. it's very inconvenient. i much prefer the old system wherein you connect to broadband the same way you connect to dial-up: using the network connections in windows xp.

is there any way around this new system, i wonder. i just don't like it at all.

but i guess i should be thankful we have broadband at all, even if it is a rather choppy connection and YM is starting to bitch on me, the way it does with most broadband connections.

edit:

and oh right, for those who were trying to reach us through our landline: the phone died and so did we.

last june 6, our phone line went dead. remembering an incident like this before, i called our landline using my mobile, because last time, an incoming call jumpstarted our landline into having a dial tone again. the phone was ringing on my mobile, but our landline wasn't. then somebody answered. i was staring dumbfounded at our landline, my brain trying to figure out how somebody could answer our number when i was standing right in front of our phone, and i was sure as hell that nobody was there to answer it.

by this time, the person on the other line had said "hello" for the third time, so i asked what number this was, and she gave a different number. apparently our number was crossed with someone else's, so that when we dialled our number, we were directed to another house, and vice versa.

and get this, the number we got crossed with was effin' prepaid. we couldn't use their number to make outgoing calls or even to use the net because they were out of effin' credits. once we get our phone bill, if i see any long-distance calls between june 6 and june 21, i will not pay. damn that other house, they might have exploited usage of our line.

of all the effin' coincidences. telesulit, my effin' ass.

anyway, pldt finally fixed it today, along with the installation of the dsl. after two effin' weeks. after half an effin' month. should i even pay our bill this month? shouldn't i get a 50% discount at least? pldt claimed they were having trouble with the squatters in the area who were stealing their equipment and messing with their cabinets, which was why the problem started with the phone lines. no excuse!! two effin' weeks without internet. we positively died. lol.

another weird fact, my dad lost his mobile phone also last june 6.

june 6, 2006: the omen - the end of all telephonekind. o_O

dsl!
broadband internet is coming yay!!

pldt contacted us today and said ports were already available in our area. unfortunately, our application details of four effin' months ago were lost. always a catch. pif. we had to reapply, but if things go smoothly (and we hope to the good lord they do), we will be able to have dsl in two weeks' time. yay!

after siege in ragnarok online tonight, aru spotted orc hero, an MVP boss in the game. he asked me to try and take him down just one time. his knight and my priestess used to take on boss monsters when i was still able to play often.

it's a bit difficult to defeat a boss monster with a knight and priestess; the usual party is composed of a priestess and a wizard or hunter, who deal very high damage, or it takes a party of a minimum of three. i figured that now we've transcended to lord knight and high priestess, orc hero would be easy. well, he wasn't, apparently. the mob got nerfed. before, if you didn't kill the boss' mob, the boss wouldn't spawn any more. this time, orc hero kept summoning more mobs, so that i was taking damage from up to four sets of high orcs instead of the usual one set.

we were able to defeat orc hero soon enough. i was only able to take two screenshots during the fight because i was so busy keeping ourselves alive. ~_~ this was the best shot of the two. it's our first MVP as transcendents. ^^

as knight and priestess, we've defeated eddga, orc hero, moonlight flower, dracula, hatii, golden thief bug, phreeoni, incantation samurai, tao gunka, and amazingly, even lord of death. (good god that one took a lot of resurrections to defeat). we plan to take them on again as transcendents when we get the chance, just to renew our skills. ^^

i was able to survive that fight using dial-up with back-up slim white pots and praying to the heavens above that i don't lag or that kaida doesn't wake up at that time. XD since broadband internet is coming soon, kaida will be the only one left to determine when i can hunt again. XD

edit: i'll contact you soon about chippy and coke. lol.

we were finally able to reformat our pc ..again.

we finally found and bought an acid pro installer in blue wave. why so far from home? because we were in the vicinity last sunday and greenhills has turned into an effin' shangri-la mall wannabe, that's why.

anyway.

we've been looking for program installers so that we would be able to reformat. our pc has been cluttered with mp3s of my husband and dictation files from my work and various pc games. finally our hardware is clean and shiny once again. *hugs pc*

..only to be cluttered with more mp3s and dictation files and video games, i can imagine. o_O plus, aru was looking at me strangely last night when i installed mozilla firefox before the video and sound card drivers. priorities first, dammit. XD

i was anxious with programs with online installations like YM and such. dial-up just takes too damn long to install YM, which is important for my work. plus connections recently have been quite unstable. it was just so depressing to see this effin' message on my screen:

Installation time:
DSL - 1 minute
56K Modem - 50 minutes

curse you pldt for not having ports built near our area!! do i have to carry my house on my back to move some several blocks just to get dsl? T^T

in any case, i was able to install YM; however, contact details were lost and i don't know why. i thought they'd be retained. so now then, my YM window shows only my friends' yahoo ids, and i sometimes forget who's who with so many listed. >.>
